Instructions for using the Bison against the Colorado potato beetle
Potatoes are a favorite vegetable of all people of the post-Soviet space, moreover, it is the main side dish on the tables of ordinary people. To get rid of this pest once and for all, many use the Bison preparation from the Colorado potato beetle. Description of the drug
The drug is produced by ZAO Shchelkovo Agrokhim on the territory of the Russian Federation. It has a liquid form, packed in 1 milliliter glass ampoules or in a 5 milliliter plastic ampoule.
The insecticide for beetles contains the substance imidacloprid. Once on plants, it is quickly absorbed into the green mass and retains its properties for 30 days. The substance enters the insect's body by contact and intestinal route and quickly kills it.
Drug action
Since the substance is absorbed into the plant, harvesting can be done after 30 days, when the chemical is no longer active. For the same reason, the solution applied to plants is not afraid of rain and sun rays. He can poison beetles for a month.
Once in the intestinal tract, the substance destroys the insect from the inside. It acts on the nervous system by blocking the transmission of impulses. If the substance gets on the legs or abdomen of an insect, the latter will become paralyzed and die in a few seconds. Since the beetles do not eat anything except the potato leaf, swallowing the poison, the pests disappear from the treated area on the second day. The action lasts for a month, which means that a beetle that has accidentally entered the site from another field will also be poisoned by eating harmful leaves.
Method of drug administration
The preparation for processing is very simple. For initial acquaintance with the drug, the package contains instructions for use, which should be read before using the poison:
- Before starting the preparation, wear rubber gloves, prepare the solution carefully so that it does not accidentally get on the skin or mucous membranes. If the substance does get on the skin, rinse with running water and soap.
- Open the ampoule, 1 milliliter of poison is enough for a 10-liter bucket of water, so the ampoule is diluted in 200 grams of water, and then the concentrate is diluted in 10 liters.
- An ampoule with 5 milliliters of solution is prepared differently, for this it is necessary to dilute the entire composition in 1 liter of water, take 200 grams of the resulting concentrate and dilute in 10 liters of water. The active substance evaporates, therefore the diluted liquid cannot be stored. It should be used immediately after preparation.
- The plot is treated by spraying the stems and leaves of the plants with a spray bottle or a simple broom. In this case, a bucket of water is enough to neutralize 1–2 acres of the infected area. Choose cloudy calm weather without rain. If you spray plants in the scorching sun, then the leaves will receive a thermal burn. Therefore, it is best to use it early in the morning or in the evening, after sunset.
Application of the drug against other insects
The application guide states that the Bison is not only used against the Colorado potato beetle on potatoes, it is also effective for killing cucumbers, tomatoes and other plants:
- aphids;
- thrips;
- whitefly;
- ticks;
- scoop;
- moths;
- cabbage butterfly.
As you can see, this preparation can be used throughout the entire area, regardless of planting, from leaf-eating and sucking insects.
Precautions
Since the Bison preparation has a third hazard class, precautions must be taken when using it:
- When preparing the solution, use a face mask, since the substance is volatile, it evaporates in the open air and enters the respiratory tract.
- Gloves will protect a person from getting poison on the skin surface.
- In the process of spraying plants, you need to wear a protective suit, mask and gloves. After processing, wash all equipment with washing powder, and wash hands and face in running water and soap.
- Although the poison is not as dangerous for humans as for insects, the description states that if you ignore the precautions, a person can get mild poisoning of the body if the solution gets inside. A chemical burn or an allergic reaction when the substance gets on the skin.
