From the history of the creation of the variety

Climbing Aloha was bred by German breeders in 2003. The specialists of the Cordes company crossed the Westerland rose and the Rugelda hybrid of the Rugosa rose. Already in 2006 in France, the variety was awarded a certificate of honor.

Description and characteristics of the Aloha rose

Crop shoots reach a height of 2.5 meters. The bush spreads up to 100 centimeters wide. The leaves are green, glossy. Inflorescences consist of 5-10 flowers, the diameter of which reaches 10 centimeters. The petals are painted in tones of an orange-pink palette. During flowering, a delicate aroma emanates from the bush.

Strong shoots have a large number of thorns. Aloha's peculiarity is that it blooms twice a year. It can withstand both southern heat and temperate climates.

The subtleties of growing a culture

They purchase seedlings in plant nurseries or garden centers from reliable sellers. Plants should not be more than 1-2 years old, otherwise it will be harder for them to take root.

When and where to plant

The rose is planted in open ground in spring or autumn. The place is chosen sunny, protected from cold winds. The flowers are prone to fading, so the area should be shaded on a hot afternoon.

Note! The rose is planted at some elevation, otherwise the root system may rot.

Preparation of planting material

The seedling is placed in a bucket of water. To disinfect the plant, add several crystals of potassium permanganate. Too long roots are pruned. Shoots are shortened to 15-20 centimeters.

Landing instruction

Aloha rose is planted on the site like this:

  • dig a hole 50 × 50 centimeters in size;
  • a layer of expanded clay or small stones is poured;
  • the pit is half filled with a fertile substrate;
  • a sapling is placed in the middle, the roots are straightened;
  • fall asleep with earth along the root collar.

The plant is watered abundantly, the root circle is mulched with peat or sawdust.

Difficulties in plant care

Care consists in watering, feeding, loosening the earth, removing weeds. Faded buds are removed to maintain the decorative effect of the plant. After the first wave of flowering, the shoots are pruned. The procedure promotes the formation of lateral branches with young buds.

Required humidity

High humidity can damage the plant. With frequent top irrigation, powdery mildew is likely to appear on the bush. For this reason, water is poured only at the root.

About watering and feeding

Water the Aloha rose after the top layer of the earth has dried. If the soil does not have time to dry out, putrefactive microorganisms can attack the root system. 2-3 buckets of water are poured under the bush. The culture is fed up to 5 times per season. In the spring, nitrogen is used to build up green mass. Then mineral fertilizers are applied with an advantage in the composition of potassium and phosphorus.

Pruning and wintering

In early spring, old, sick, frozen shoots are cut off. 5-10 buds are left on young branches. Abundant flowering will begin on them in the spring. Old shoots are shortened to 2-3 buds. For the procedure, use disinfected secateurs.

An adult rose withstands winter cold well. It is enough to sprinkle it with peat, compost. If severe frosts are expected, spruce paws are laid out around the bush, the stems are bent to them, and fixed. The structure is covered with agrofiber.

Important! In order for the rose to safely endure the cold, water-charging watering is carried out in the middle of autumn.

Plants suitable for the neighborhood of the Aloha rose

The culture bush is high, so stunted plants are beautifully adjacent to it. These can be evergreen or deciduous shrubs, annuals or perennials. The orange-pink inflorescences of Aloha are effectively set off by the colors of the blue palette: sage, lavender, bells.

Breeding rules

The easiest way is to propagate the climbing Aloha rose by layering. The procedure is performed as follows:

  • make a groove 7-10 centimeters deep;
  • lay the stem, fix it with a wire bracket;
  • covered with earth.

Care consists in watering, loosening, removing weeds. After a while, young bushes will appear. They are separated with a shovel, transplanted to a new place.

Use in landscape design

Aloha rose is planted near buildings with supports: arches, gazebos, pergolas, columns. To maintain the decorative appearance of the bush, the stems are tied up. The crop will look spectacular in the form of a tapeworm against the background of the lawn.
